After countless transactions, Edith can say there are no boring moments when you’re a Realtor®. It is hard and demanding work but also an interesting and rewarding career. Having completed her business degree, at a time when there were only five women in the UBC Sauder School of Business, Edith stood out as an accomplished business person right from the get go.
She was the first woman hired at Kraft Canada’s marketing department, but after eight years Edith left the corporate world to begin a career as a Realtor® in 1982. Born into a family of hardworking farmers, the discussions around her family’s kitchen table with the neighbouring farmers intrigued her. Farmers were business people, talking about politics, business, risk, and expenses. Like them, she was determined to work at something she could grow. She had lots of creative ideas and she wanted her own business.
Edith likes the autonomy of being a Realtor®. She’s also aware that her success is directly tied to how much she puts into her business. Just like when she grew up, Edith’s children were exposed to the inner operations of a small business - often attending open houses, delivering her real estate flyers, and handing out poinsettias at Christmas. When her son Jonathan asked to join her in the real estate industry, Edith was thrilled. Jonathan had also gone to university, worked in the business world, but had chosen to enter real estate knowing full well what to expect given his upbringing. The Katronis Team was born!
Edith has since handpicked each individual member of the Katronis Team based on the individual’s attributes, ethics, and hardworking attitude. A team in her mind means you work together and you do your very best for every client. According to Edith, “the reason the Katronis Team is ranked #1 of all Real Estate Teams in the Fraser Valley is because we help one another in our office. We are not in competition and this is what makes us unique.”
Questions & Answers
1. What is your favourite thing about being a Realtor®?
I like the autonomy, having my own hours, and of course that after 35 years the work is still interesting with no boring moments. As a Realtor®, you are rewarded in terms of what you put into it so you have to listen to what people say, understand the psychology of real estate, and respect people.
2. What did you do prior to Real Estate?
I worked in the marketing department for Kraft as the first female account manager in the business’ history, which was after I graduated from UBC in commerce and administration at the Sauder School of Business.
3. What business/career achievement are you most proud of?
I am so proud of my many, happy clients. When people remember how you helped them buy or sell a home, and they call you back to help them again, or help their children, that’s the best compliment: They remembered me.
4. Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My mother because of her resilience, faith, love, and honesty. She never gave up and had such a positive attitude toward life even when things weren’t going well. That was her greatest strength.
5. What is your favourite quote?
Luke 6:31 (NIV): “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
What Client Say
We are so pleased that we chose to have the Katronis Team represent us in our recent sale and purchase! We had always before been represented by a family member when doing real estate transactions, but he is now retired so we selected the Katronis team. Everywhere we looked in Cloverdale we saw signs for Team Katronis. I knew they had been in Cloverdale at least as long as we had (over 20 years). With that kind of experience and support from the community we didn’t hesitate. With the steady hand of leadership provided by Edith and Jonathan Katronis we sold, then bought, for good prices and in a shorter than expected period of time. They walked us through all the details with patience and clear explanations. We wouldn’t even consider working with any other Real Estate team ever again!
